Black Tip

These notes show the minimum number of techniques required to advance to the next grade. You'll also see some 'estension techniques' at the bottom, which are optional for those who wish to extend their skills.

Patterns

  • Black Tip pattern (plus all previous patterns)
  • Tanjon Breathing
  • Basic 1

Striking

  • Speed and power drills
  • Jumping kicks: side kick, round kick, turning back kick

Ground Skills

  • Showing proficiency in finishes from guard (triangle, side mount - arm / shoulder, scarf hold - cross face choke
  • Intermediate freestyle grappling for 3 minutes

Throws

  • Reaping throws
  • Sacrifice

Weapons

  • Introduction to walking stick: stance, grip, strikes
  • Block using stick.
  • 2 x throw using stick.

Movement

  • Self-defence flow drill 3: transitions between locks against prone opponent, incl leg locks.

Core Self Defence

  • 3 x Scarf hold escape -sit up / turn in and pin arm / figure 4 with legs
  • Knife - trap the arm and prevent further damage
  • 2 x Knife short lunge to stomach: Boochae / wrist lock
  • Knife long lunge to stomach 
  • Choke against wall
  • Reverse punch against wall

Extension Self Defence

  • Knife slash 
  • Reverse knife slash
  • Knife variations - V up , circle to back drop, reverse clothes line etc
  • 4 x Additional wall techniques : student uses any previous self defence techniques as appropriate.
